A Personal Touch
Personalize your backyard with concrete engraving. It’s a fun way to add a little something to your backyard!
What are some of your favorites? Interested in adding concrete engraving to your backyard?
We all love our pets…but from shedding to jumping into mud puddles, they often bring unwanted messes into the house. Perhaps you spend a good chunk of time per day cleaning up after your four-legged friends. We have good news! Did you know that concrete is one of THE most pet friendly options for flooring?
Still need convincing? Here are four reasons why pet owners will love concrete floors:
Concrete floors are very hard to damage. Your pet’s claws will not damage concrete floors like they can on hardwood floors. As long as the wax finish is maintained, the floors will be resistant to scratches.
Sealed concrete floors are totally stain resistant making it impossible for your nice floors to be damaged by nasty stains like pet urine or any other dirty substances they might bring in from the outdoors.
Easy to Clean
Concrete floors are extremely easy to clean up if your pet creates an unwanted mess. Just wipe it up with a damp towel, mop, or a broom and it will be like it was never even there.
Won’t Trap Allergens
Pet shed not only fur but also dander. Concrete floors don’t absorb fleas or dander like other surfaces can making it very easy to get rid of it and keep everyone in your home a lot healthier!
Have you discovered the ease of pet ownerships with concrete floors? Awesome! Still have questions? Give us a call, we’d love to chat with you about the benefits of concrete flooring!
For many concrete virgins, the idea of forgoing traditional hardwoods or tile for concrete floors may be a foreign concept. Some fear that concrete will look too cold or industrial in their space. However, concrete is actually incredibly versatile for homes and businesses, with many benefits:
Maintenance is a Breeze
Concrete is a great option for those looking for easy maintenance. For residential concrete floors with light foot traffic, an occasional sweeping and damp mopping will do the trick. This will keep the floors looking new for years to come!
Concrete is also a great choice for pet owners. Pet dander will not stay trapped in the floors, and provides easy clean up for potential accidents. To maintain look and quality, you can consider sealing or waxing the floors every 3-9 months.
Since many homes are built on a concrete foundation, the installation of concrete floors may simply mean uninstalling whatever has been placed over it. This means that no new materials are needed. By putting to good use what is already there, you are cutting down your carbon footprint.
Keep Money in Your Pocket
Concrete is not only inexpensive (ranging from $2-$6 per square foot to polish), it is also incredibly durable. This makes sense for businesses looking to withstand heavy foot traffic or the wear and tear of heavy equipment on floors. This durability will give you peace of mind since it is incredibly hard to damage. A properly sealed concrete surface will last you years to come.
Versatility in Design
No, not all concrete has to be the same. At Charleston Concrete Design, we have multiple options for those looking to create a unique and refined look in their home or business. Consider the following:
- Concrete Engraving– turn your ordinary, gray concrete into something extraordinary. We stain the existing concrete with a variety of types of stains available. We can also engrave patterns into existing concrete to bring it new life! Here are a few types of engraving patterns to choose from:
- Custom logos/pattern
- Acid Stains and Concrete Dyes- this can provide a transparent, mottled look to existing concrete. In this case, the home or business owner has full control over the look and feel. Colors can be combined, mixed and matched to create the perfect look. Various types of stains and dyes are available for surfaces:

Polished concrete floors are quickly gaining popularity because of the attractive finish and affordable price. With some cleaning and preparation, almost any concrete floor (new or old) can be polished.
Here are four reasons why you should consider polishing your concrete floors:
Polished concrete is made with resistive materials, making it much more durable than other flooring. Because of its durability, it prevents staining from water or other substances.
Polished concrete floors require a lot less maintenance than other surfaces like tile or hardwood. All they require is a little dusting every once and a while. In the event that you do spill something, all you have to do wipe it up with a little water and a towel. It’s as simple as that.
Polished concrete could actually save you money on your utility bills. Since they shine, they are energy efficient and reflect heat and light. In other words, polished floors won’t break the bank or the environment.
Won’t Break the Bank
Polished floors are actually extremely affordable. Prices range from bout $2 to $8 per square foot depending on your desired finish. These floors will make your home look like a million bucks without you having to break the bank.
